Primary Activities (Each activity runs for a full day unless stated otherwise)
Control UNIT 6C Year 6
In this unit, using Flowol 3, children learn how to use input devices or switches tocontrol a process. By attaching devices such as pressure pads, light sensors,magnetic switches and others to a control box, they can programme it to carry out a process which detects a change e.g. switch on the light when it gets dark
- Control UNIT 5E Year 5
- In this unit, using Flowol 3, children learn how to control simple devices such as buggies or lights – turning them on/off according to a set of instructions. This isdeveloped so that children understand how to sequence a set of instructions to get a desired outcome e.g. ‘a set of traffic lights’.s24
- And Now the News KS2-4
- In this unit children research news stories – current or historic – write scripts and record themselves on video, taking the roles of newscasters. They use the same techniques as weather broadcasting to place themselves in front of a relevant backdrop to their news item.
- The Urban Landscape Year 6
- This unit accompanies art topic ‘A Sense of Place’. Children use a variety of images taken in Bradford, Leeds and York and other urban settings to produce various representations of urban life. Using Photoshop Elements techniques to create a bank of images to load into Photostory 3. Motion effects are added to make a CD Presentation playable on computers.
- The Bradford Project KS2-4 (1 or 2 days)
- In this unit children use advanced features of PowerPoint to produce complex multimedia presentations with emphasis on action buttons, linking pages, inserting and playing audio/video files. They then assemble a short video. Suitable for Bradford schools because of its content, this unit fits with Y6 ICT Multimedia requirements. However, it is ideal for all ages from KS2 to KS4 since it can be enhanced to any level.
- Britain since 1948 Year 5/6
- In this unit children use a range of prepared resources and Powerpoint templates to create a thematic presentation inspired by the NC History Unit of the same name. Children acquire an overview of changes in British life by both theme and decade. The more able youngsters can include their own research findings within this presentation. The final product is written to CD for them to take away.
- Kar2ouche Victorians Year 5/6
- In this unit children carry out a selection of activities related to the NC History topic on this theme. They acquire hands-on experience using this popular piece of software which engages youngsters so they won’t even know they’re doing history!
- Kar2ouche Egyptians Year 5/6
- In this unit children find out how the Ancient Egyptians lived, discover facts about Pharaohs and Egyptian Gods. They will develop an understanding of their society and use sources of information to make observations.
- Digital Blue
- In this popular unit children use our brand new Canon camcorders with Premiere Elements 3 software to make high quality stop motion animations and other exciting short video sequences.Please note we also have a set of 15 Digital Blue cameras for loan to schools.2
Get Into the Groove & Photostory 3 No need to have a musical background with SONY XMC 6 everyone can make theirown loop based groovy tunes. Build up your masterpiece a track at a time, add bass, percussion, synths, etc. Record your own voice and save it as an MP3. Now use your own track as the backing for a Photostory presentation showing digital images to stunning effect. Take your audio-visual masterpiece home on CD. Ideal for KS2.
Web in a day In this unit children construct a simple but attractive website using Net Objects which they can take back to school on CD to archive or develop further. They will learn how to insert hyperlinks, images, sound files and Flash animations plus the information needed to upload their creations to the web. If you inform us in advance we can have custom resources prepared to suit the unit your children are working on.
